This Privacy Policy explains what information Simonian College Advising collects, how it is used and protected, and the choices you have. In this policy, “Simonian College Advising,” “I,” “me,” and “my” refer to Shereen Simonian, who operates Simonian College Advising as an independent service. “You” means a visitor to this website, a student, or a parent or guardian.

Summary

  • I collect only what I need to reply to you and provide the services you choose.
  • I don’t sell or rent personal information, and I don’t use it for advertising.
  • This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising cookies, or tracking tools. The consultation form uses a spam check (Cloudflare Turnstile) to block automated submissions.
  • Student essays are never shared, published, or used as examples without written permission.
  • You can ask me to see, correct, or delete your information at any time.

Information I collect

When you request a consultation

The consultation form asks for:

  • Whether you are a student or a parent or guardian
  • Your name and email address
  • The student’s first name and grade, and whether the student is under 18
  • The student’s high school (optional)
  • For a student under 18, a parent or guardian’s name and email address
  • The service you’re interested in, good times for a call, and an optional short message

The form does not ask for essays, passwords, test score reports, Social Security numbers, financial or financial aid information, or other sensitive documents. Please don’t include them in your message.

When you fill out the interest form

I also share a short Google Forms interest form. It asks whether you are a student or a parent or guardian, the student’s grade, where they are thinking of applying, which services interest you, whether the prices fit your budget, when you would want to start, an optional description of your biggest challenge, and, only if you want a call or updates, a first name and email address. It does not collect your email automatically or require you to sign in.

When you become a client

  • Drafts and application materials the student chooses to share, such as essays, activity lists, and a copy or printout of an application
  • Notes I take during calls to keep track of goals, feedback, and next steps
  • Emails and scheduling details
  • Billing records, such as the payer’s name, the amount, and the date. Card or bank details are handled by the payment provider and are not stored by me.

I never ask for, or log in with, a student’s passwords for the UC application, the Common App, or any other account.

When you visit this website

This website doesn’t use analytics, advertising pixels, or tracking tools, and it doesn’t set cookies of its own. The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which may automatically process basic technical information, such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, to deliver the site and protect it from attacks.

Spam protection on the consultation form

The consultation form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people apart from automated spam. When the form loads, Turnstile processes technical signals from your browser, such as your IP address and browser type, only to detect bots. It is not used for advertising or to track you across websites. Your IP address is not saved with your request. A scrambled, one-way version of it is kept for up to one hour only to limit repeated submissions. See Cloudflare’sTurnstile Privacy Addendumfor details.

How I use information

  • To reply to consultation requests and schedule calls
  • To provide the services you sign up for, including feedback, calls, and email support
  • To keep parents and guardians informed about scheduling for students under 18
  • To send agreements, invoices, and receipts, and to keep business and tax records
  • To improve my services, using general patterns rather than any one student’s work
  • To meet legal obligations and protect the safety of students and others

I don’t use your information for advertising, and I don’t send marketing emails unless you ask to receive them.

How I share information

I don’t sell personal information, and I don’t share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. I share it only:

  • With service providers that help me run the business. They may use the information only to provide their service to me:
    • Google Workspace (Google LLC): business email, the private spreadsheet where consultation requests are recorded, the script that receives form submissions, and private client folders
    • Cloudflare (Cloudflare, Inc.): website hosting and Turnstile spam protection
If I add a scheduling or payment provider, I will name it here before using it.
  • Within the family: for students under 18, scheduling and service details are shared with the parent or guardian on file.
  • With your permission, for example if you ask me to send feedback to someone else.
  • When required by law, or when I believe in good faith that sharing is necessary to protect someone from serious harm.

Testimonials and examples

I never use a student’s essays, application materials, or results in marketing or as examples, even anonymized, without written permission from both the student and, for students under 18, a parent or guardian. Testimonials are used only with written permission, by first name or initials only.

AI tools

I don’t put a student’s essays or application materials into artificial intelligence tools without the written permission of the student and, for students under 18, a parent or guardian.

Students and children

Simonian College Advising serves high school students and their families. This website is not directed to children under 13, and I don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If I learn that I have, I will delete it.

For students under 18, a parent or guardian must be involved before any paid service begins, and they may review or ask me to delete their child’s information at any time.

How long I keep information

  • Consultation requests are deleted automatically 12 months after they are received. This includes the copy in the private spreadsheet and the notification email. Deleted emails are permanently removed from the trash within 30 days. If a family becomes a client, their information is kept as a client file instead (below).
  • Client files, including drafts and notes, are deleted 6 months after services end, unless the family asks me to keep them longer or delete them sooner.
  • Interest form responses are deleted within 12 months of being submitted.
  • Billing and tax records, such as the payer’s name, amounts, dates, and invoices, are kept for 4 years after the end of the tax year they relate to. They never include student essays or notes.

How I protect information

Client files are stored in a separate business account with two-step verification, in private folders shared only with the student, their parent or guardian, and me. I limit what I collect and delete information on the schedule above. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.

Your choices and rights

You can ask me to:

  • Tell you what information I have about you or your child
  • Correct information that is wrong
  • Delete your information, unless I need to keep it to meet a legal requirement
  • Stop contacting you

Email me at hello@simoniancollegeadvising.com with your request. I will reply within 30 days and may ask you to confirm your identity before acting on a request.

Do Not Track signals

Some browsers send a “Do Not Track” signal. Because this website does not track visitors over time or across other websites, and does not allow third parties to do so, these signals do not change how the site works.

Changes to this policy

If I change this policy, I will update the effective date at the top of this page. If a change materially affects how I use client information, I will notify current clients by email before it takes effect.
